Young's career game leads 76ers past Raptors

Mar 12, 2009 - 3:40 AM PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- Thaddeus Young scored a career-high 29 points to lead the Philadelphia 76ers to a 115-106 victory over the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday.

Young was 13-of-20 from the field for the 76ers, who won at home for the first time since the All-Star break.

"This was a good bounce back win from the other night," Philadelphia coach Tony DiLeo said.

"We were aggressive early and our defense caused deflections and turnovers and we could get out on the break. It got a little sloppy in the second half, and we weren't happy with the plays we executed but were happy with the win."

Samuel Dalembert recorded his 11th double-double of the season with 19 points and 13 rebounds.

Philadelphia took over in the second quarter when it shot 15-of-22 from the field and outscored Toronto, 37-22.

"I just went out there and played my normal game. The difference between this and any other game is that I made shots," Young said. "My teammates kept giving me the ball, and I thank them for looking to me and get big shots."

Andrea Bargnani scored 21 points and Shawn Marion added 18 for the Raptors, who suffered their sixth straight loss.

"We have to look at each other and help each other. We all messed up out here," Marion said. "We all have to accountable and we all have to help each other. That is the only way that it is going to get better.

"We can talk about it but it won't matter. We have to show it in action. It is time to get that killer instinct."

Chris Bosh entered the game having scored 34 and 30 points in his previous two games, but had 17 points against the 76ers and was just 6-of-16 from the field.

"We tried to go to the basket early. You can't base the offense around jump shots," Raptors coach Jay Triano said. "Chris tried to drive to the basket and Dalembert was there."

"I know that Bosh is a good player," Dalembert said. "After I got that first foul, I just put everything on the line. I could not let him get going and change the game. I was aggressive on him."
