Coastal Carolina rolls over Cornell, Iowa 79-48
Dec 28, 2009 - 2:43 AM CONWAY, S.C.(AP) -- Logan Johnson scored a career-high 19 points and Coastal Carolina routed Cornell College (Iowa) 79-48 on Sunday night.The Chanticleers (11-2) are off to the best 13-game start in school history, surpassing the 1981-82 team that was 10-3. They also matched the win total of last year's team that finished 11-20.
The seven-game winning streak is Coastal Carolina's longest since the 2005-05 season.
Johnson was 7-for-10 from the field, including 4-for-5 from 3-point range, while Mario Edwards, was also 7-for-10 for 16 points. Joseph Harris had his ninth double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Johnson hit three shots from beyond the arc in the first 6:29 en route to a 42-18 halftime lead in the first meeting between the schools.
Chris Handke had 14 points and 10 rebounds for Division III Cornell (9-2), which snapped a three-game winning streak.
