American beats Brown 76-68 on Saturday
Jan 2, 2010 - 9:01 PM PROVIDENCE, R.I.(AP) -- Nick Hendra scored 18 points to lead American to a 76-68 win over Brown on Saturday.Stephen Lumpkins contributed with 11 points and 13 rebounds for the Eagles (3-11). The win snapped a three-game losing streak for American.
A free throw from Vlad Moldoveanu gave American a 44-32 advantage with 18:14 left in the second half for their largest lead of the game. Brown stayed close and used a 6-0 run to cut the Eagles' lead to 54-51 with 8:36 remaining, but the Bears (5-9) would get no closer the rest of the way.
Peter Sullivan led Brown with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Matt Mullery added 15 points.
The Bears shot 52.2 percent in the first half (12-for-23), but only 31.2 percent in the second half (9-for-28).
The Eagles scored 20 points off of the Bears' 16 turnovers.
