Lamar tops Tulane 70-67 to win third straight

Jan 3, 2010 - 3:49 AM BEAUMONT, Texas(AP) -- Anthony Miles scored 18 points and Justin Nabors had a double-double as Lamar edged past Tulane 70-67 Saturday night.

Nabors had 13 points and 11 rebounds. Donley Minor came off the bench to add 11 points for the Cardinals (7-7), who won their third straight. Kendrick Harris and Charlie Harper added 10 points each.

Kevin Sims scored 19 points to lead Tulane (5-8). Kris Richard had a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds.

Lamar led 33-32 at halftime, and the game was tied at 58 with 3:22 to play. Lamar took the lead on a layup and free throw by Harris.

Richard made a layup to make it 68-66 with 28 seconds left. Sims was fouled with two seconds left and split his free throws to bring the Green Wave within 68-67. Tulane quickly fouled Miles, who made both free throws to end the game.

Lamar shot 47.9 percent while holding Tulane to 34.5 percent.
