Quinnipiac second-half surge beats Columbia 63-51

Dec 24, 2009 - 3:26 AM HAMDEN, Conn.(AP) -- James Feldeine scored 13 points and Justin Rutty grabbed 14 rebounds as Quinnipiac defeated Columbia 63-51 on Wednesday night.

The Bobcats (5-5) used an 8-0 run to tie the game at 35 after the Lions (5-5) had widened a 31-27 halftime lead to eight points.

Columbia regained the lead briefly, but a 15-1 Quinnipiac run over a span of 5:53 put the Bobcats ahead 53-42.

Quinnipiac outshot Columbia 44.8 percent (13-for-29) to 26.1 percent (6-for-23) in the second half and outrebounded the Lions 42-33 for the game. The Bobcats have outrebounded all 10 of their opponents this season.

Dave Johnson added 10 points for Quinnipiac, and Jamee Jackson had seven of his eight rebounds at the offensive end.

Noruwa Agho led Columbia with 14 points but missed his only 3-pointer. The sophomore came in as the nation's leading 3-point shooter at 64.4 percent (29-for-45).
