(AP) -- Xavier Hansbro scored 21 points and had seven rebounds to lead Georgia State to a 59-52 victory over Utah Valley on Wednesday.Hansbro scored nine consecutive points on two layups and five free throws as the Panthers (3-3) went on an 11-0 run to build a 43-31 lead with 8:07 left.
Jihad Ali capped the run with a dunk as the Panthers held Utah Valley (1-3) scoreless for a stretch of nearly 10 minutes in the first game of the South Alabama Thanksgiving Tournament.
Jordan Swarbrick ended Utah Valley's scoreless streak with a 3-pointer with 7:45 left in the game.
The Panthers didn't score a field goal in the final 4:48, but held off the Wolverines with nine free throws.
Dante Curry added 10 points for Georgia State.
Corey Claitt led Utah Valley with 13 points, but was 4-for-19 from the field. Justin Baker added 11 points and Swarbrick finished with 10.
