Jackson State edges Alabama State 63-62
Jan 7, 2010 - 4:55 AM JACKSON, Miss.(AP) -- Garrison Johnson hit two free throws with 3 seconds remaining to give Jackson State a 63-62 victory over Alabama State on Wednesday night.Johnson finished with 29 points as the Tigers (4-10, 2-0 Southwestern Athletic Conference) rallied from a 10-point second-half deficit and outscored the Hornets 19-8 in the final 7 minutes.
Menji Mundadi, who scored 20 points, gave the Hornets (4-9, 1-1) a one-point lead with two free throws with 12 seconds left.
Alabama State led 54-44 with 7:13 left, but Jackson State tied the score at 60 on De'Suan Dixon's 3-pointer with 1:58 to play.
Johnson was 14-for-16 from the free throw line. Tyrone Hanson added 15 points.
Tramayne Moorer finished with 16 points for Alabama State, including 14 in the second half, and Byron Walker scored 14 points.
The Hornets average 6.8 3-pointers a game, but were 4-for-13 from beyond the arc.
