Radford defeats High Point 77-63

Feb 7, 2010 - 10:42 PM RADFORD, Va.(AP) -- Blake Smith scored 15 points and Art Parakhouski grabbed 17 rebounds to help Radford defeat High Point 77-63 on Sunday.

The Highlanders (13-10, 9-4 Big South Conference) shot 52.9 percent (27 of 51), while holding the Panthers (11-12, 6-6) to 30.3 percent shooting (20-for-66).

High Point made just seven field goals in the second half after leading 38-37 at halftime.

Nick Barbour made three free throws with 1 second left in the first half to put the Panthers up by one. High Point then took a 41-39 lead on a 3 by Eugene Harris with 18:22 to go.

Radford answered with a 9-2 run and took the lead for good, 48-43, on Smith's free throw with 15:17 remaining.

Parakhouski, who had six blocks, also had 12 points for his 19th double-double of the season.

Harris and Barbour finished with 19 points each for the Panthers, who were outscored 40-25 in the second half.
