Chandler's big second half leads DePaul past Hofstra

Mar 15, 2007 - 7:45 AM CHICAGO (Ticker) -- Wilson Chandler scored 26 points to lead third-seeded DePaul to an 83-71 win over No. 6 Hofstra in a first-round matchup of the National Invitation Tournament.

Chandler scored 22 of his points in the second half, including 14 of DePaul's final 29 points.

The Blue Demons (19-13) move on to face second-seeded Kansas State on Monday in the second round. The Wildcats beat Vermont, 59-57, on Wednesday.

DePaul led 35-30 at the break as Sammy Mejia scored 14 of his 16 points in the first half. Wesley Green had career-highs of 15 points and 10 rebounds off the bench for the Blue Demons.

Carlos Rivera scored 22 points, Antoine Agudio had 17 and Loren Stokes 10 for Hofstra (22-10).
