San Jose State gives Nessman extension

Jul 15, 2011 - 6:46 AM San Jose, CA (Sports Network) - San Jose State and men's head basketball George Nessman have agreed to a new three-year contract through the 2013-14 season.

Nessman, who took over the program in 2005, led the Spartans to a 17-16 record last season, their first winning campaign since 1994.

San Jose State has won at least 13 games every season since 1998.

"We are enthusiastic about our short and long term prospects to continue our upward arc and growth. We remain totally dedicated to building this program, achieving resounding success and making the San Jose State community proud of Spartan basketball," said Nessman.

Nessman was previously a recruiting coordinator at the University of California and coached at Portville College, Bakersfield College and De La Salle high school in California.
