Tennessee faces Texas for Legends Classic title

Nov 24, 2007 - 3:14 PM No. 16 Texas (4-0) at No. 7 Tennessee (5-0) 7:00 pm EST

NEWARK, New Jersey (Ticker) - Tennessee and Texas are very familiar with each other after meeting each of the last four seasons.

The seventh-ranked Volunteers once again meet the 16th-ranked Longhorns on Saturday in the final of the Legends Classic.

Tennessee enters the game having won the last two games against Texas - including a 111-105 overtime victory in Knoxville last season as it rallied from a 17-point halftime deficit. Chris Lofton scored 35 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the win.

Lofton led Tennessee to the final, scoring 19 points in a narrow 74-72 victory over West Virginia on Friday. However, the senior guard made just 3-of-11 3-pointers and is shooting just 32 percent from the arc - well off his 41.9 percent from a last season.

Texas had no trouble advancing, disposing of New Mexico state, 102-87, on Friday. The Longhorns have won all four of their games this season by double digits - including a 48-point rout of Arkansas-Monticello in the first game of this preseason tournament.
