Gordon, Indiana face off with Georgia Tech in Big Ten/ACC Challenge

Nov 27, 2007 - 3:08 PM Georgia Tech (3-2) at No. 15 Indiana (4-1) 7:00 pm EST

BLOOMINGTON, Indiana (Ticker) - Freshman sensation Eric Gordon does not get long to dwell on his first poor outing.

Gordon will look to get back on mark when No. 15 Indiana hosts Georgia Tech in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge on Tuesday.

The top newcomer for the Hoosiers (4-1) and probably the Big Ten Conference, Gordon wasted little time validating his hype, scoring at least 30 points in three of his first four games while shooting 59.3 percent (16-of-27) on 3-pointers.

However, the 18-year-old struggled in Indiana's last game on Saturday, mustering just four points on 1-for-6 shooting in the first half as Xavier grabbed an 11-point lead en route to a 80-65 rout in the title game of the Chicago Invitational Challenge.

Gordon did finish with 20 points, but ended up just 4-of-12 from the field without a 3-pointer. Odds are the youngster will improve upon that against the Yellow Jackets, who have allowed opponents to shoot 37.6 percent from the arc so far.

This will be the second all-time meeting between Indiana and Georgia Tech, with the Hoosiers winning the previous back in 1969.

Indiana is just 2-4 in the annual showdown with the ACC, last winning in 2002.

Georgia Tech (3-2) will be playing for the first time in eight days after recording a third-place finish at the Paradise Jam with a thrilling 70-69 victory over Notre Dame on November 19.

Anthony Morrow, who leads the Yellow Jackets with an average of 19.0 points, was one of three players to score 12 points.

Georgia Tech is 4-4 in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge, posting a 75-70 home victory over Penn State last season.
