Duke, Pittsburgh clash at MSG

NEW YORK (Ticker) - Two of the college basketball's elite programs collide on Thursday when ninth-ranked Pittsburgh faces No. 7 Duke at Madison Square Garden.

In this decade alone, the two programs have combined for an .815 winning percentage (349-79), 12 NCAA Tournament appearances, 10 conference titles and 10 conference tournament title game appearances. Pitt and Duke are two of only 14 undefeated teams nationally. Pitt also is off to its fifth consecutive 10-0 start to a season.

In regards to this season, the Blue Devils lead the Atlantic Coast Conference and rank third nationally with a 26.3-point margin of victory. Seven of the Blue Devils' 10 wins this season have been by more than 20 points. Similarly, Pittsburgh has outscored its 10 opponents by an average of 23.5 points.

The Blue Devils are fresh off of their 111-70 rout of Albany on Monday. Senior DeMarcus Nelson posted a season-high 23 points, nailing 4-of-5 shots from the arc. T

Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski has 785 career wins, one win shy of matching Lefty Driesell for the sixth-most on the all-time list.

Pitt enters the game after defeating Oklahoma State, 85-68, on Saturday. DeJuan Blair registered his fourth season double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds to goa along with five blocks.

This is the first meeting between the schools since 1980.
