Georgetown hopes to rebound against Villanova

Feb 11, 2008 - 11:10 PM Villanova (14-8) at No. 8 Georgetown (19-3) 7:00 pm EST

WASHINGTON (Ticker) -- Eighth-ranked Georgetown looks to start a new winning streak on Monday when it hosts Villanova in a Big East Conference matchup.

The Hoyas (19-3, 9-2 Big East), who lead the conference by a 1/2-game over Notre Dame (8-2), had their six-game winning streak snapped on Saturday - dropping a 59-51 decision to Louisville.

Georgetown held an eight-point lead at the break, but was outscored 36-20 in the second half by the Cardinals.

Senior Roy Hibbert is averaging 13.2 points per game to lead the Hoyas, who are 12-0 at home this season.

The Wildcats (14-8, 4-6) snapped a five-game losing streak with a 72-70 victory over Seton Hall on Saturday, but have struggled on the road this season. Villanova is just 2-5 away from home this season and have lost three straight.

Dante Cunningham tied his career high with 21 points in Saturday's win, helped by Dwayne Anderson's go-ahead 3-pointer with 12 seconds remaining. The junior scored a season-high 13 in his first career start.

The two schools split the regular season series last year - with each winning on the opposition's home floor - before Georgetown defeated the Wildcats in the Big East tournament.
