UCLA hosts FIU before showdown with Texas

Nov 29, 2008 - 11:26 AM Florida International (3-3) at No. 11 UCLA (3-1), 7:30 p.m. EST

LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- UCLA has had over a week to prepare for its next game. And yet, it still may be looking past its next opponent.

The 11th-ranked Bruins host Florida International on Saturday.

UCLA has not played since defeating Southern Illinois, 77-60, in the consolation game of the 2K Sports Classic Benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer on November 21.

The Bruins may be anxious to get back on the court but could also be looking ahead to next Thursday when they visit No. 7 Texas. Last season, UCLA's lone non-conference loss in the regular season came against Texas.

Darren Collison leads UCLA in scoring at 16.0 points per game and the senior is currently shooting 61 percent (22-of-36) from the floor.

Florida International has dropped two straight, including Wednesday's 66-58 setback to Cleveland State.

Nikola Gacessa leads the Golden Panthers in scoring at 10.8 points per game.
