Wake Forest goes for 10th straight win

Dec 19, 2008 - 2:07 PM No. 10 Wake Forest (9-0) at Richmond (5-4), 7:00 pm EST

RICHMOND, Virginia (Ticker) -- If Wake Forest hopes to win its 10th straight contest, it will have to do something it has not done this season - win a road game.

The 10th-ranked Demon Deacons visit Richmond on Friday.

Wake Forest has enjoyed its fast start with six home wins and three on a neutral court in Anaheim, California when it won the 76 Classic from November 27-30. The Demon Deacons are averaging a 22-point margin of victory.

Harvey Hale scored a season-high 17 points as Wake Forest posted a 66-53 victory over Wright State on Sunday.

Jeff Teague is averaging 19.4 points and 4.6 assists to lead the Demon Deacons, who were 2-10 on the road last season.

The Spiders have alternated losses and wins in their last five games and are coming off a 77-76 setback to Virginia Commonwealth last Saturday.

David Gonzalvez scored 19 points in the loss and leads Richmond in scoring at 17.7 per contest.

Richmond blew a 13-point halftime lead in its previous meeting with Wake Forest, dropping a 72-59 decision on December 22, 2006.
