Butler hopes to keep Detroit winless in Horizon play

Jan 10, 2009 - 11:36 AM Detroit (4-10) at No. 20 Butler (13-1) 2:00 p.m. EST

INDIANAPOLIS (Ticker) -- Butler will look to continue its home dominance against Horizon League foes when it hosts struggling Detroit Saturday.

The 20th-ranked Bulldogs (13-1, 4-0 Horizon) have won 27 of their last 28 at Hinkle Fieldhouse, including a 64-48 win over Wright State on Thursday. They are 7-0 at home this season.

Matt Howard scored 14 points and Gordon Hayward added 12 points and 11 rebounds for Butler, which limited the Raiders to just 33 percent (16-of-48) from the field.

After a pair of single-digit wins in its first two league games, Butler has won its last two Horizon games by 14.5 points per game.

The same can not be said for the Titans, who are the only winless team in conference play remaining and are coming off a 64-41 loss at Valparaiso on Thursday.

Detroit (4-10, 0-5) managed just 16 first-half points in losing its third straight game.

Xavier Keeling leads the team with 12.4 points a game while Thomas Kennedy contributes 10.8 per contest.
