Illinois hopes to end losing streak to Wisconsin

Jan 24, 2009 - 11:30 AM Wisconsin (12-6) at No. 24 Illinois (16-3), 4:00 pm EST

CHAMPAIGN, Illinois (Ticker) -- Illinois will attempt to snap a five-game losing skid to a Big Ten Conference rival for the second time this week.

The 24th-ranked Fighting Illini will look to defeat Wisconsin on Saturday for the first time in nearly three years.

Mike Tisdale scored 15 points and Demetri McCamey added 13 and seven assists as Illinois ended a five-game losing streak to Ohio State with a 67-49 triumph Tuesday.

Reserve Dominique Keller finished with 12 points as the Fighting Illini (16-3, 4-2 Big Ten) already matched their win total from last season.

Illinois turns its attention to the Badgers (12-6, 3-3), who have not lost to their conference foe since January 31, 2006.

Wisconsin, which is 2-3 on the road, has lost three straight contests. The Badgers dropped their previous two games in overtime, including a 73-69 setback to Iowa on Wednesday.
