Blair, Pittsburgh visit rival West Virginia

Jan 25, 2009 - 7:02 AM No. 4 Pittsburgh (17-1) at West Virginia (14-4), 4:00 p.m. EST

MORGANTOWN, West Virginia (Ticker) -- Few have been able to keep Pittsburgh's DeJuan Blair off the boards. To defeat its rival, a younger, smaller West Virginia team will have to find a way to slow him down.

Blair and the fourth-ranked Panthers take on the Mountaineers in a Big East Conference matchup on Sunday.

Pittsburgh (17-1, 5-1 Big East) rebounded from its first loss to stifle eighth-ranked Syracuse, 78-60, last Monday.

Sam Young, who leads the team in scoring at 18.6 points per game, netted 22 in the win and Blair added 20 and 12 rebounds.

It was the 12th double-double of the season for Blair, who is averaging 12.8 rebounds and will have a physical advantage against West Virginia, which does not have one player in its regular rotation above 225 pounds.

West Virginia (14-4, 3-2) has won its last three games and is coming off a 75-58 victory at Georgetown on Thursday.

Da'Sean Butler scored 27 points in the win and leads the Mountaineers in scoring at 16.9 per contest.

The teams split two meetings last season.
