Xavier aims to get back on track vs. George Washington

Feb 22, 2009 - 2:03 PM CINCINNATI (Ticker) -- A surprising rough patch for Xavier has created a wide-open race in the Atlantic 10.

The 17th-ranked Musketeers look to straighten things out Sunday when they host one of the league's bottom feeders in George Washington.

Xavier (21-5, 9-3 A-10) appeared to be cruising to its third straight A-10 regular season title two weeks ago. But three losses in four games has created a bit of congestion at the top of the standings.

Following road losses to Duquesne and Dayton, Brad Redford led six players in double figures with 15 points in a 35-point rout of last-place Temple. That momentum did not last long as the Musketeers fell to Charlotte, 65-60, on Thursday.

C.J. Anderson was the lone player in double figures with 13 points as B.J. Raymond and Derrick Brown were held to just nine points each, four below both of their season averages.

The Colonials (8-15, 2-9) have won two of four after an 11-game losing streak, including a 90-62 blasting of St. Bonaventure on Thursday.

Rob Diggs scored a season-high 26 points on 11-of-15 shooting while Damian Hollis and Travis King added 12 each.
