San Diego concludes season against Gonzaga

SAN DIEGO (Ticker) -- Gonzaga is rolling towards an undefeated record in the West Coast Conference.

San Diego tries to hand 17th-ranked Gonzaga its first conference loss on Saturday.

The Bulldogs (22-5, 13-0 WCC) have already clinched their ninth straight regular-season conference crown but are eyeing an unblemished record against WCC foes.

Gonzaga's league mark remained pristine as Josh Heytvelt scored a career-high 29 points on 12-of-17 shooting and grabbed nine rebounds to help his team pull away from Santa Clara in an 81-73 win on Thursday.

Matt Bouldin added 23 points and Austin Daye chipped in 12 for Gonzaga (22-5, 13-0 WCC), which has won five straight and 14 of 15 overall.

The Toreros (15-14, 6-7) enter their season finale on a two-game win streak after forging a pair of 66-60 victories over Pacific and Portland.

Matt Dorr scored 17 points and Gyno Pomare had 14 for San Diego, which made 9-of-12 free throws in the final 1:19 to seal the win against Portland.
