Purdue hoping to lock up second place in Big Ten

Mar 8, 2009 - 2:06 PM No. 20 Purdue (22-8) at No. 8 Michigan State (24-5), 12:00 p.m. EDT

EAST LANSING, Michigan (Ticker) -- Purdue looks to complete a season sweep of No. 8 Michigan State and secure second place in the Big Ten Conference when it visits the Spartans on Sunday.

Outside of the contest marking the last home game for its senior class, the game has little meaning for Michigan State (24-5, 14-3 Big Ten), which has already clinched the regular-season crown.

The Boilermakers (22-8, 11-6), who are coming off a surprising 64-61 setback at home to Northwestern on Wednesday, will fall into third place with another loss. E'Twaun Moore is averaging 14 points per game to lead Purdue.

Michigan State has won four straight games and is starting to get healthy at the right time.

Raymar Morgan, last season's leading scorer, has scored 14 points in consecutive games after battling mononucleosis for more than a month. The junior forward totaled 17 points over a 10-game stretch, three of which he missed completely.

Kalin Lucas is averaging a team-high 14.6 points per game for the Spartans, who defeated Indiana, 64-59, on Tuesday.
