No. 3 Baylor tops Mizzou, clinches Big 12 title

Mar 3, 2011 - 4:27 AM Waco, TX (Sports Network) - Brittney Griner finished with a game-high 22 points and five blocks, as third-ranked Baylor handled Missouri, 84-52, at the Ferrell Center.

The win clinched a share of the Big 12 title for Baylor. Texas A&M's loss to Kansas State on Wednesday allowed the Lady Bears to claim the title outright.

Kimetria Hayden and Odyssey Sims both finished with 13 points for the Lady Bears (27-2, 14-1 Big 12), who have won three straight since losing to Texas Tech on February 19.

RaeShara Brown paced the Tigers (12-17, 4-11) with 17 points and six steals. Shakara Jones added 10 points and Trenee Thornton scored nine for Missouri, which has dropped four straight.

The Lady Bears controlled the game from the opening tip, holding Missouri to only 22 points in the first half. Baylor held a 47-29 rebounding advantage in the easy win, and capitalized on 17 Missouri turnovers and the Tigers' 33- percent shooting effort.

Baylor finishes its regular season at Colorado on Saturday.
