No. 13 Georgia upends No. 8 Kentucky

Feb 3, 2013 - 9:36 PM Lexington, KY (Sports Network) - Khaalidah Miller scored a game-high 25 points to lead No. 13 Georgia past eighth-ranked Kentucky, 75-71, at Memorial Coliseum.

Anne Marie Armstrong and Jasmine James added 12 points apiece for the Lady Bulldogs (19-3, 7-2 SEC), who have won three straight.

Jennifer O'Neill and A'dia Mathies netted 18 points apiece to pace Kentucky (19-3, 7-2), which lost for the second time in three games.

Samarie Walker posted a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds in defeat.

Kentucky controlled the early action, opening the contest with a 21-8 run that included a pair of 3-pointers from O'Neill.

Georgia quickly responded, however, as Miller led the way with eight points during a 15-6 push to get back within 27-23, but they would get no closer and the Wildcats later scored the final five points of the first half to carry a 40-30 advantage into the break.

Kentucky stretched its lead up to 45-32 in the second half before Miller capped a 19-4 run with a layup to hand the Lady Bulldogs a 51-49 edge with about 12 minutes to play.

The Wildcats answered with an 18-8 spurt to regain a 67-59 lead, but Georgia again battled back with a 14-2 trek to go on top, 73-69, on a pair of Armstrong free throws with 2:18 to play.

After a Walker tip-in and a James free throw made it a 74-71 game with 1:12 remaining, Kentucky failed to get any closer as the Wildcats missed their final three shots from the floor, including a potential game-tying 3-pointer by DeNesha Stallworth, before Miller made the back end of a set of free throws in the final second to finalize the scoring.

Walker also failed to connect on a couple of foul shots in the stretch.
