No. 4 Louisville breezes past UCF
Feb 5, 2014 - 3:08 AM Orlando, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Asia Taylor netted a game-high 19 points and 12 rebounds, as No. 4 Louisville downed UCF, 74-59, on Tuesday.Sara Hammond added 14 points and Shoni Schimmel posted 11 with seven assists for the Cardinals (23-1, 11-0 AAC), winners of 16 straight games.
Sara Djassi contributed 12 points and four turnovers in defeat for the Knights (9-13, 2-9). Zykira Lewis scored 10 in the setback.
A 12-6 burst ending mear the midway point of the first half gave Louisville control of the contest for good. Megan Deines finished off the surge with a three-point play to make it 27-16 for the visitors.
The Cardinals led 44-33 at the break, then extended the edge to as high as 19 points, 56-37 on a Schimmel triple, just over six minutes into the second half.
UCF was never able to shrink its deficit below double digits for the remainder of the contest.
