Maryland rallies to edge pesky UCLA

Nov 26, 2007 - 1:47 AM LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Kristi Toliver scored 22 points Sunday as third-ranked Maryland rallied for a 79-75 victory over UCLA.

Toliver also dished out eight assists and sank six 3-pointers to pace four players in double figures and help Maryland (8-0) erase a 16-point second-half deficit.

UCLA (3-1) went on a 17-3 run over a span of less than five minutes, a spurt capped by Tierra Henderson's two free throws with 6:47 remaining.

But Toliver scored 10 points over the final six minutes and drilled a 3-pointer with 1:07 remaining to put Maryland ahead for good at 75-73. The junior sank a pair of free throws 25 seconds later to seal the victory.

Marissa Coleman scored 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds while Laura Harper and Crystal Langhorne added 12 points apiece for Maryland, which enjoyed a 42-33 advantage on the glass.

Lindsey Pluimer scored 17 points to pace the Bruins, who forced 25 turnovers.
