Oklahoma State survives close call against Florida State

Mar 25, 2008 - 2:49 AM NEW ORLEANS (Ticker) -- Oklahoma State got a call and it helped the Cowgirls survive a close call on Monday against Florida State.

Andrea Riley made 1-of-2 free throws with 0.7 seconds left in overtime to give third-seeded Oklahoma State a 73-72 victory over No. 11 Florida State on Monday night in the second round of the New Orleans Regional.

Oklahoma State advances to play No. 2 seed Louisiana State on Saturday in a "Sweet 16" matchup.

Riley was stopped by a pair of Florida State defenders just above the right elbow with time running out. She went up for a shot and official Teresa Dahlem whistled a dubious foul on Florida State's Shante Williams just as the buzzer sounded.

It appeared that Williams knocked the ball away cleanly and may have made some contact on the follow through. The officials watched a replay and put 0.7 seconds on the clock.

Riley clanged the first free throw off the rim and then made the second. Florida State tried a long inbound pass but it was intercepted by Oklahoma State as time ran out.
