Parker carries Tennessee over Notre Dame

Mar 31, 2008 - 5:52 AM OKLAHOMA CITY (Ticker) -- Candace Parker scored 34 points and grabbed 13 rebounds as top-seeded Tennessee overcame a rare halftime deficit to hold off fifth-seeded Notre Dame, 74-64, in the semifinals of the Oklahoma City Regional on Sunday.

Shannon Bobbitt had 11 points and Nicky Anosike added 10 and 10 rebounds for the Lady Volunteers (33-2), who will meet Texas A&M on Tuesday night in the regional final.

Even though Tennessee trailed at halftime for just the third time this season at 33-31, the Lady Volunteers used a pair of 3-pointers from Bobbitt during a 27-13 run over the next 10:22 to take a 60-44 lead.

Notre Dame, which fell to 0-16 against Tennessee under the direction of coach Muffet McGraw, made one last rally before Parker scored six of the Lady Volunteers' next eight points to make sure the Irish could not get any closer than 10 points.

Becca Bruszewski and Charel Allen each scored 16 points in a losing cause for the Irish (25-9).
