Bowling Green outlasts Texas-Arlington

Dec 21, 2006 - 2:48 AM CANCUN, Mexico (Ticker) -- Ali Mann and Amber Flynn scored 16 points apiece as No. 21 Bowling Green posted a 59-48 victory over Texas-Arlington in the Caribbean Classic.

Rebounding from a nine-point loss to Duke on Tuesday, the Falcons (8-2) opened the second half with a 15-9 run to take a 44-36 lead midway through the half.

Texas-Arlington (4-7) battled back and closed within 51-46 on a layup by Tiffeny Riles with 3:42 to play, but Bowling Green scored eight of the final 10 points to seal it.

The Falcons shot 55 percent (11-of-20) from the floor in the second half to break away from a 29-27 lead at the break. Flynn, a reserve, finished 7-of-9.

Riles and LaTosha Duffey scored 12 points apiece for the Mavs, who shot 33 percent (17-of-51) and were outrebounded, 36-28.
