Lawrence leads George Washington women past Richmond
Feb 3, 2007 - 9:50 PM RICHMOND, Virginia (Ticker) -- Sarah-Jo Lawrence had 15 points and 11 rebounds as No. 12 George Washington cruised to its 12th straight victory, a 72-53 victory over Atlantic-10 Conference foe Richmond.Jessica Adair led three Colonials (19-2, 8-0 A-10) in double figures with 17 points on 8-of-11 shooting. Her sister, Jazmine Adair, grabbed 10 rebounds as George Washington outrebounded Richmond, 42-31.
George Washington set a blistering pace in the first half, shooting 58 percent (17-of-29) from the field to go into halftime with a 44-28 lead. Richmond did not fare much better in the second half, shooting 37.5 percent (21-of-56) overall, including 5-of-15 on 3-pointers.
Johanna McKnight scored 10 points for the Spiders (10-13, 4-4), who never led and trailed by as many as 23 points late in the game.
The Colonials put their winning streak on the line Thursday when they host Duquesne.
