Allen, George Washington rout St. Joseph's
Feb 24, 2007 - 5:12 AM WASHINGTON (Ticker) -- Whitney Allen and George Washington did not overlook St. Joseph's.Allen played a stellar floor game, and Sara-Jo Lawrence and Jessica Adair each scored 16 points to propel the ninth-ranked Colonials to their 17th straight win, an 87-60 victory over the Hawks in an Atlantic 10 clash.
George Washington (24-2, 13-0 A-10), which will face Temple on Sunday for the conference's regular-season championship, picked up its 13th straight home win.
The Colonials played well on the interior all night, outscoring the Hawks, 50-30, in the paint. George Washington was led on the inside by Allen, who had an impressive all-around game - collecting seven points, nine rebounds, four blocks and five steals.
Lawrence and Adair combined to shoot 13-of-22 from the field.
Erica Pollock collected 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Hawks (15-12, 7-6), who shot a dismal 36.5 percent (33-of-66) from the floor.
