Goring, NC State beat up Florida State in ACC tournament
Mar 2, 2007 - 9:14 PM GREENSBORO, North Carolina (Ticker) -- Gillian Goring scored 22 points and grabbed 19 rebounds as No. 25 North Carolina State erupted in the second half to defeat Florida State, 76-49, in the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament quarterfinals.Shayla Fields had 16 points off the bench and Ashley Key added 14 as North Carolina State (22-8) advances to the semifinals to face top-seeded Duke.
North Carolina State held a 27-25 lead at the break and erupted in the second half, shooting 57 percent (16-of-28) from the field and draining 14-of-18 free throws.
Britany Miller scored 10 points but was the only player in double figures for Florida State (22-9) which shot a dismal 29 percent (19-of-65), including 2-of-12 from 3-point range.
