Purdue women need OT to get past Wisconsin

Mar 2, 2007 - 9:19 PM INDIANAPOLIS (Ticker) -- Katie Gearlds scored 26 points as No. 15 Purdue survived for an 82-79 overtime victory over Wisconsin in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Conference tournament.

Erin Lawless had 15 points and 10 rebounds for Purdue (26-5), which had four scorers in double figures and advanced to the semifinals.

Purdue surrendered a 39-31 halftime lead, shooting just 38 percent (11-of-29) from the field in the second half.

However, the Lady Boilermakers regrouped in the extra session, making 3-of-3 shots and 8-of-10 free throws in overtime.

Jolene Anderson scored 27 points and Janese Banks added 16 and seven rebounds for Wisconsin (19-12), which surrendered six straight points in overtime and could not recover from the deficit.
