Vanderbilt advances after routing Florida

Mar 4, 2007 - 5:44 AM DULUTH, Georgia (Ticker) -- Christina Wirth refused to miss as No. 14 Vanderbilt cruised to a 105-77 victory over Florida to advance to the semifinals of the Southeastern Conference tournament.

Wirth scored 19 points on 7-of-7 shooting and made all five of her 3-point attempts for the Commodores (25-5, 11-4 SEC), who will face No. 12 Georgia on Saturday for a chance to go to the finals.

Carla Thomas and Caroline Williams each collected 16 points for Vanderbilt, which shot 66 percent (35-of-63) from the field and 11-of-15 from beyond the arc.

Dee Davis had 15 points and Jessica Mooney added 11 for the Commodores, who have won eight of their last nine games.

Vanderbilt led, 54-34, at halftime, after shooting over 70 percent (19-of-27) before the break.

Florida (9-22, 3-13) was led by Marshae Dotson, who scored 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds.

Sha Brooks had 17 points and Briana Phillips added 11 for the Gators, who shot just 37 percent (25-of-67).
