Adair, George Washington women advance to second round
Mar 18, 2007 - 1:14 AM LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Jessica Adair and George Washington began the game on a 19-0 run and never looked back.Adair scored 15 points, grabbed a career-high 21 rebounds and blocked four shots to lead fifth-seeded George Washington to a 76-67 victory over No. 12 Boise State in an NCAA Tournament first-round matchup in the Dallas Region.
The Colonials (27-3) next will face fourth-seeded Texas A&M in the second round Monday.
Behind the lopsided run and 50 percent (18-of-36) shooting in the first half, GW built up a 44-25 advantage at the half.
Kenan Cole had 15 points and Whitney Allen added 11 rebounds for the Colonials, who dominated the boards, outrebounding the Broncos, 57-32.
Kimberly Beck and Sarah-Jo Lawrence each scored 14 points for George Washington, which finished 42 percent (27-of-64) from the field and 8-of-13 on 3-pointers.
Boise State (24-9) was led by Nadia Begay, who scored 26 points and made 8-of-14 3-pointers.
Tasha Harris collected 11 points and nine rebounds for the Broncos, who shot 35 percent (23-of-65).
