Maryland pounds North Carolina despite turnovers
Jan 24, 2011 - 1:09 AM College Park, MD (Sports Network) - Alyssa Thomas had 16 points and 13 rebounds, and No. 15 Maryland rolled by No. 10 North Carolina, 88-65.Diandra Tchatchouang scored 13, while Lynetta Kizer and Alicia DeVaughn each netted 12 for the Terrapins (16-3, 3-2 ACC), who cruised to their third straight win despite committing 28 turnovers.
Italee Lucas posted 17 points for the Tar Heels (17-3, 3-2), who were coming off a win over Wake Forest on Thursday.
Maryland raced out to a 44-32 lead at the break and hit 14-of-15 from the foul line in final 20 minutes to come away with the easy decision.
