Georgia rolls past Richmond in opener
Nov 10, 2007 - 2:55 AM ATHENS, Georgia (Ticker) -- Ashley Houts scored 17 points as No. 10 Georgia opened the regular season Friday with a 81-53 victory over Richmond.The Lady Bulldogs improved to 26-9 in regular-season openers, including a 13-1 mark at Stegeman Coliseum.
Tasha Humphrey had 13 points and Jasmine Lee added 11 for Georgia. Houts, Humphrey and Lee all added nine rebounds apiece, while Houts also had five steals and four assists.
Brittani Shells had 13 points and Katie Holzer added 10 for the Spiders (0-1).
Richmond is coached by Michael Shafer, an Athens native who spent 11 years on the staff of current Georgia coach Andy Landers.
