Houts, Georgia win Sun & Fun Classic
Dec 31, 2007 - 7:30 AM MIAMI (Ticker) -- Ashley Houts scored a career-high 24 points as seventh-ranked Georgia captured the Sun & Fun Classic title with a 70-56 victory over Florida International on Sunday.Angel Robinson had 12 points and Tasha Humphrey added nine and 11 rebounds for the Lady Bulldogs (12-0), who remained one of three undefeated teams - along with Connecticut and Arkansas - in Division I.
Houts, who was named the tournament's MVP, shot 9-of-14 from the field with four 3-pointers, handed out five assists and recorded four steals.
Georgia took a 34-22 lead at the half after shooting 54 percent (15-of-28) from the floor in the first half and led by 20 points with just under 3 1/2 minutes remaining.
LaQuetta Ferguson scored 18 points and Fanni Hutlassa added 16 for Florida International (4-9), which was outrebounded, 41-28.
