Adair, George Washington take A-10 opener
Jan 14, 2008 - 1:09 AM WASHINGTON (Ticker) -- Jessica Adair scored 15 points and Kimberly Beck added 12 as No. 17 George Washington opened Atlantic 10 Conference play with a 56-46 victory over Xavier on Sunday.Sarah-Jo Lawrence had nine points and Jazmine Adair added six and 12 rebounds for the Colonials (13-3, 1-0 A-10), who captured their eighth straight win.
It was also the 600th all-time victory for George Washington women's basketball.
Limiting the Musketeers to 26 percent (6-of-23) from the field in the first half, the Colonials held a 29-16 lead at intermission before opening up a 19-point lead with six minutes remaining.
Amber Harris scored 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds for Xavier (10-6, 0-1), which was held to its second-lowest point total of the season.
