Big first half helps Vanderbilt sink Georgia
Jan 18, 2008 - 3:27 AM NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) -- Christina Wirth had 16 points and Hannah Tuomi added 14 as Vanderbilt used a big first half to knock off No. 11 Georgia, 67-59, in Southeastern Conference action on Thursday.The Commodores (13-5, 2-1 SEC) led from start to finish, holding Georgia to just 35 percent shooting (6-of-17) in the first half en route to taking a 38-21 advantage at intermission.
Vanderbilt outscored the Lady Bulldogs, 34-10, in the paint and led by at least seven points throughout the second half.
Megan Darrah and Tasha Humphrey each scored 17 points to lead Georgia (14-3, 1-2), which committed 24 turnovers for the game.
