George Washington starts fast, cruises over UMass
Feb 14, 2008 - 6:17 AM AMHERST, Massachusetts (Ticker) - Jessica Adair had 14 points and Whitney Allen added 13 and 11 rebounds as No. 13 George Washington coasted past Massachusetts, 69-45, in an Atlantic 10 Conference matchup on Wednesday.The Colonials (20-4, 8-1 A10) jumped out to a 10-1 lead less than five minutes into the contest. Allen helped counter a Massachusetts rally by scoring the final nine points of the first half for George Washington, which had a 36-25 lead at the break.
An 11-0 run midway through the second half pushed the game out of reach as the Colonials held a 53-33 bulge with 10:48 left.
Kate Mills scored 17 points to pace the Minutemen (11-13, 3-6), who shot just 31 percent (16-of-51) from the field.
