Houts helps Georgia advance in SEC tournament
Mar 7, 2008 - 5:56 AM NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) -- Ashley Houts scored 15 points as No. 21 Georgia got past Alabama with a 71-62 victory in the first round of the Southeastern Conference tournament on Thursday.Christy Marshall also had 15 points for the fifth-seeded Lady Bulldogs (22-8), who will face fourth seed Kentucky on Friday.
Tasha Humphrey added 11 points and eight rebounds for Georgia, which grabbed 15 offensive boards in beating Alabama for the second time in as many meetings this season.
Tierney Jenkins had 18 points for the Crimson Tide (8-22), who committed 19 turnovers to negate their 49 percent (23-of-47) shooting.
