Black, Waner lead Duke into ACC semifinals
Mar 8, 2008 - 6:48 AM GREENSBORO, North Carolina (Ticker) -- Chante Black scored 20 points and Abby Waner added 14 as No. 11 Duke surged to an 81-67 victory over Florida State in an Atlantic Coast Conference tournament quarterfinal matchup on Friday.The Blue Devils (22-8) shot 49 percent (28-of-57) from the field and next will face No. 4 Maryland in the ACC semifinals on Saturday.
Duke was trailing by six midway through the second half before using a 16-0 burst to take control of the game, 63-53, with 6:45 left to play. Waner scored nine points during the run.
Mara Freshour scored 18 points and Tanae Davis-Cain chipped in 15 for the Seminoles (18-13), who shot 39 percent (22-of-57) from the floor and committed 16 turnovers.
