Adair leads George Washington past Auburn
Mar 22, 2008 - 9:26 PM PALO ALTO, California (Ticker) -- Jessica Adair had 17 points and 13 rebounds to lead sixth-seeded George Washington to a 66-56 first-round win over No. 11 Auburn on Saturday in the Greensboro Regional of the NCAA Tournament.Antelia Parrish added 15 points and seven boards for the Colonels (26-6), who overcame a tough game by Atlantic 10 Player of the Year, Kimberly Beck. Beck did finish with seven assists, but matched her season low with just three points, shooting only 1-for-7 from the field.
Auburn (20-12) was led by DeWanna Bonner, who finished with 16 points and six rebounds. Trevesha Jackson, Alli Smalley and Sherell Hobbs each finished with 10 points for the Tigers.
The Colonials will play in the second round on Monday night against the winner of Saturday's game between No. 3 California and 14th-seeded San Diego.
