George Washington edges TCU, gears up for No. 1 Maryland
Nov 18, 2006 - 11:30 PM COLLEGE PARK, Maryland (Ticker) -- Sarah-Jo Lawrence and George Washington may have been looking ahead to Sunday, but still had enough to win on Saturday.Lawrence scored 20 points and Kimberly Beck added 18 as the 25th-ranked Colonials posted an 82-77 victory over TCU in their second game of the BTI Classic.
Jessica Adair, the team's leading scorer entering the game, had 10 points and seven rebounds for George Washington (4-0), which next will face No. 1 Maryland on Sunday.
Lawrence was 7-of-10 from the field and Beck made 4-of-9 3-pointers in the first meeting against the Lady Frogs (0-2).
Adrianne Ross had 24 points and Lorie Butler-Rayford added 11 and 13 rebounds for TCU, which shot 42 percent (27-of-64) from the field.
The Colonials now play the top-ranked Terrapins for the fourth time, with GW trailing in the series 2-1, but winning the most recent matchup between the two programs, 77-67, at the Smith Center in January 1994.
