Robinson, Lady Bulldogs hold off Georgia Southern
Nov 22, 2006 - 3:38 AM STATESBORO, Georgia (Ticker) -- Angel Robinson scored 18 points to lead five players in double figures as No. 8 Georgia held off pesky Georgia Southern, 75-71.The Lady Bulldogs (4-0) actually trailed, 38-35, at halftime as the Lady Eagles made eight 3-pointers in the first half. But Georgia cracked down defensively after the break, holding Georgia Southern (1-4) to just 36 percent (13-of-36) shooting to escape with the win.
Robinson made 8-of-14 shots and also led the Lady Bulldogs with eight rebounds in 27 minutes.
Janese Hardrick contributed 15 points and Ashley Houts, Rebecca Rowsey and Cori Chambers chipped in 11 apiece as Georgia shot nearly 53 percent (27-of-51) from the floor.
Tiffany Brown made four 3-pointers en route to 18 points and Ashley Rivens added 13 for the Lady Eagles, who shot 40 percent (28-of-69) and committed 17 turnovers.
