Williams, Florida State rally past Central Florida
Dec 10, 2006 - 2:12 AM ORLANDO, Florida (Ticker) -- Shante Williams and Florida State needed an impressive second-half performance to defeat a lowly in-state opponent.Williams scored 16 points and Alicia Gladden added 14 as the 25th-ranked Seminoles recovered to post a 75-66 victory over Central Florida.
Britany Miller had 13 points and six rebounds for Florida State (10-1), which shot 54 percent (30-of-56) from the field and outrebounded the Golden Knights, 39-26.
The Seminoles shot just 41 percent (12-of-29) in the first half and trailed, 35-33, at halftime against struggling Central Florida (1-8). However, Florida State shot a blistering 67 percent (18-of-27) in the second half to pull away.
Williams and Gladden were a combined 12-of-23 from the floor and 6-of-9 from the line to lead the Seminoles.
Francine Houston scored 18 points for the Golden Knights, who shot 45 percent (26-of-58).
