No. 9 Purdue breezes past Butler
Dec 10, 2006 - 10:42 PM INDIANAPOLIS (Ticker) -- Purdue's one-two punch added up to an easy victory.Lindsey Hylton-Wisdom scored 24 points and Katie Gearlds added 20, outscoring Butler by themselves in No. 9 Purdue's 81-38 romp over its intrastate rival.
Wisdom-Hylton hit 11-of-12 shots from the field and Gearlds finished 8-of-15 as the Boilermakers shot 53 percent (32-of-60) for the game.
Purdue (8-2) raced to a 35-14 lead at halftime and easily dismantled Butler (2-7).
Erin Lawless added 14 points for the Boilermakers, who outscored the Bulldogs, 48-10, in the paint and turned 28 turnovers into 35 points.
Ellen Hamilton scored 12 points to lead Butler, which shot 28 percent (13-of-47) overall and made just 4-of-24 in the opening 20 minutes.
