Charles, Texas look to run past Oklahoma State

Nov 3, 2007 - 10:43 AM No. 14 Texas (7-2) at Oklahoma St (5-3) 3:30 pm EDT

STILLWATER, Oklahoma (Ticker) -- Texas coach Mack Brown would prefer not to need Jamaal Charles to run wild in the fourth quarter for a second straight week.

Brown's No. 14 Longhorns hope to stay in the thick of the Big 12 South Division race when they visit Oklahoma State on Saturday.

Last weekend, Charles rushed for 216 of his 290 yards in the fourth quarter as the Longhorns rallied past reeling Nebraska, 28-25.

Charles ran for three touchdowns in the final period for Texas (7-2, 3-2 Big 12 South), which trailed by as many as 14 points in the third quarter.

Oklahoma State (5-3, 3-1 South) is tied with Oklahoma atop the division standings, a half-game ahead of Texas and Texas A&M.

The Cowboys have not played since a 41-39 win over then-No. 25 Kansas State on October 20, their fourth win in five games.

Jason Ricks was the hero for Oklahoma State, kicking a 26-yard field goal with two seconds left.

Texas has won the last nine meetings since a 42-16 setback here in 1997. The Longhorns lead the all-time series, 19-2.
