West Virginia looks to keep running vs. Louisville

Nov 8, 2007 - 11:25 AM Louisville (5-4) at No. 6 West Virginia (7-1) 7:30 pm EST

MORGANTOWN, West Virginia (Ticker) -- Steve Slaton and Pat White will be well-rested for West Virginia's game vs. Louisville. That does not bode well for the Cardinals.

Coming off a bye, Slaton, White and the sixth-ranked Mountaineers host the Cardinals in Big East Conference action on Thursday night.

West Virginia (7-1, 2-1 Big East) has not played since throttling Rutgers on the road on October 27, 31-3.

Slaton rushed for three touchdowns and White ran for 156 yards and a score for the Mountaineers, who won the turnover battle, 4-0, on a wet afternoon.

Louisville (5-4, 2-2) also has not played since October 27, when it edged Pittsburgh, 24-17, to even its record in Big East action.

Brock Bolen scored the go-ahead touchdown on a one-yard run with 1:54 left, and the Cardinals recovered a fumble by Panthers running back LeSean McCoy at the Louisville 3 with 1:10 to go to seal the win.

Last year, Louisville posted a 44-34 home win en route to winning the Big East crown. In 2005, West Virginia outlasted Louisville in triple overtime, 46-44, behind a school-record six TDs from Slaton.
